Las Iguanas is a firm favourite of mine and started small in a quiet Bristol street in 1991 and has now grew in popularity all over with the amazing flavours from Latin America and dishes that everyone loves already or that they try and end up loving.
They have so much new exciting stuff as well which I couldn’t wait to give a go. The staff in Las Iguanas are always so impressive. They are super efficient, always chirpy and so quick bringing out the food which is always a bonus. The first choice was the garlic flatbread which is chargrilled and brushed with garlic, chilli and herb butter and this was for Scott so he made it even better and added on cheese. It looked amazing and he really enjoyed it. This is one of the new items they have now along with my favourite addition to their menu the burrito bowl. I love all these kind of things and the portion size is really good, I had to take some home and had it for my lunch the next day!
In the bowl you get salad, spring onion rice, black beans, avocado, cheese, slaw and pico de gallo. You can then choose your topping from smoked chipotle chicken, shredded beef braised in chipotle or for the vegan option smoked chipotle pulled jackfruit. Also you can swap your cheese for vegan cheese!
The burrito bowl was so tasty and all the flavours complimented each other so well. I am 100% going to try to recreate this at home. It’s such a healthy flavoursome meal and you can adapt it in anyway and add in whatever you fancy.
I went for a side of curly fries because well curly fries are the best fries. No competition, don’t @ me. Scott went for a classic chicken burger and fries. He said it was really nice and the chicken was nice and tender.
Everyone’s favourite part, dessert. They have a really ascetically pleasing dish with a name that does what it says on the tin. It’s called brownie, cookie & ice cream and that’s exactly what it is! How cute is it though? I expected a bigger portion but with all that I ate from my burrito bowl I couldn’t of fit much else in so the portion size was perfect in the end.
