Now I haven’t finished a book in a long time, I get distracted by mom jobs, magazines and everything else life hurls your way at 100mph. But this, I would read it at a chance I got, on the bus to work, in between calls at work, while I was in the bath having 5 minutes peace or after Lily had finally gone to bed. Even though I’m not single, I resonated so much with the Mum in the book ‘Frankie’, she’s the mum friend you always want, the one who won’t judge you for sitting there having 5 minutes peace while chaos unravels around you.
This easy to read book written in the form of a diary makes you laugh so hard at times but is a general all round feel good book. Fellow blogger Jo Middleton aka Slummy Single Mummy wrote this book perfectly. I saw a lot of myself in Frankie, half adoring those mums who have it all together making sweet potato vegan brownies and making their own almond milk while balancing parenthood to also just knowing you will never do it but it’s nice to pretend you will in your own head.
This book was out as the Kindle edition yesterday so you can give it a go yourself! I don’t want to give too much away because you should go and read this yourself, I think any mother out there will love it. One note though, buy some Jaffa cakes but you settle down and read it, 10 minutes in and I was craving them like nobody’s business.
From the crazy mum moments, embarrassing mum moments we all find ourselves and happy go lucky feels, this is certainly something you want to add to your reading list for this year.
Frankie much like the author herself Jo Middleton is someone you would certainly enjoy sitting and having a drink with, chatting about anything and everything. This is the best book I have enjoyed in a long time and not been able to put it down!
