Conquering While Cosy | Five Tips On Smashing Your Goals While Looking After Yourself

Two of my favourite things is being cosy and succeeding in my passions and I’m sure a lot of you are the same. The Hygge lifestyle bug has hit us all and we want to have that happiness in simple things, make comfort food and feel at peace in our surroundings. Alongside this I want to completely smash my goals career wise, get busy and be the best damn girl boss around. Also as you are aware I am also a momma, so this is my complete main priority and I will drop anything for that little girl. These two things, conquering and being cosy aren’t complete polar opposites but it can be hard to switch off sometimes and let yourself recharge as well as focusing and succeeding in certain areas of your life. There are a few things I’ve done differently this year so far and I think it’s really helped and wanted to share these tips with you guys so you can try them out as well!

//01 Focus on one thing at a time

I’m sure you’re thinking, I can do that. I always do that, BUT I also thought I did. I would load my website to start writing a post with facebook, twitter and youtube up on the tabs as well. Not planning to use them but they were just open. I would be typing away and PING. I get a facebook notification, I reply and before you know it I’m 20 minutes into watching funning animal clips and watching What if videos about something like what if the sun exploded. I would get so easily side tracked and always waste my time which could be better spent.

Now I will only load up my website, put do not disturb mode on my phone so notifications don’t catch my attention and do what I need to do. If you need to reply to emails, just do that and only that for 30 minutes and you will see a massive difference in how productive you are and how much more you get done.

//02 Use useless chunks in your day to do the menial tasks

Another thing I have started doing this year is getting little bits done that would take a lot of time but do it when I would normally just doing nothing to the point I’m bored. I get the bus to and from work, it takes about 40 minutes each way, so if you do similar or you are on the train for an hour. Instead of watching Netflix, catch up on emails, do some instagram shout outs and engagement, write some bullet points for a blog post so you can write it easier and quicker when you get home. I also do these things when I’m on my lunch break where I would normally just scroll through facebook aimlessly.

//03 Put time aside to relax and switch off

I have said this before and I will say it again, we all need a break from technology sometimes. It is so important to let your brain just switch off and relax. If you are having a bath, don’t take your phone in, read a book or just pamper yourself and do some mindful breathing and techniques. Maybe have one evening a week where you put social media aside and just be with each other. I do this a lot more when I’m with Lily. I don’t want her to only see me staring at my phone. We sit and colour, sing songs (although it’s just me singing at the moment) and play games to help her learn. I see so many parents out and about face in their phone not paying attention to their children and ignoring them to watch a video on facebook or something and it is really upsetting.

//04 Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone

Or even take baby steps til you are out of the comfort zone and didn’t even realise you arrived. The pride you will feel is immense. I’ve wanted to do quite a few things this year in relation to my blog and also my Coventry Bloggers group I manage. I have asked, made my case and 9 times out of 10 I succeeded. It’s all about showing your confidence in yourself and what you are offering. But not only that but working that cute little butt off and doing what you said. But not only doing it, but smashing it and going the extra mile.

//05 Reward yourself when you reach a realistic goal

Sometimes we set goals and they are ridiculous like I want to be a full time blogger earning 100k in the next month. Let’s face it, it probably won’t happen. Set small and realistic goals that you can reach which all lead you to the end big goal. By having these small victories, it spurs you on to do better and reach the next goal and the next. My recent goal I achieved was get more engagement on my posts and I have been from all different people. For that, I rewarded myself and had a night off working, got in my Hunkemoller loungewear set [gifted], which let me tell you is one of the most luxurious sets I have owned and just want to live in. Put on my favourite show currently (Brooklyn nine nine) and have a Netflix binge after Lily went to bed.

Focusing on one thing at a time has helped me out so much recently because I used to get distracted so easily! But I do miss having more time on my hands to do stuff… Especially now I drive to work rather than take public transport.Lizzie Hello Lizzie Bee

Such great tips here Emily. I always try and do little things whilst I have a few spare moments too. Start writing a blog post at lunch time or commenting on instagram pictures before the gym. I find this helps so much!Kayleigh x

Aww you look so cosy in your loungewear set! :DI love all these tips, they're so handy and even though I try and do/do most of them I still half the time forget to actually give myself an easy time or a pat on the back when I've actually done something good. :')

I do a similar thing with breaking down tasks, it can be very overwhelming trying to achieve the bigger picture so breaking into steps is better for realistic targets but also mentally improves my approach. That loungewear does look super cosy!
