There is an element of photography in blogging but I only really know what I have taught myself so I jumped at the chance when I got invited to attend the Vikings Picture Perfect Photography Master Class. I had no idea what to expect, I really wanted to learn the art of Flat lays.
So me and my friend Saffron went, we were greeted with some Prosecco which was lovely and mingled and caught up with old blogger friends. It was located in the beautiful and very festive looking bar called The Dirty Martini. Elouisa Georgiou was the photographer there to host the masterclass. We had two challenges as such and the person who had the best picture won a printer which was really cool, safe to say I didn’t win. The first challenge was to take a photo with a prism which I think I have only used once when I was about 16 in Science class I never thought to use it in photography. It was cool and I got some good shots as you can see above but it wouldn’t really help me in my blogging world.
The second challenge was to get a nice shot of the table setting you can see below with some LED lights and boards that bounce the light to make it brighter and we were shown how to direct the light. Again it was a really cool thing to learn but not something I would use in my blog photos most likely.
We were able to ask advice from the photographer which was really helpful and I asked her how to do some things on my camera but she didn’t know how to use it so I just used my Auto Mode as I normally do. Stayed in my comfort zone.
After taking all the pictures we had some lovely food and cocktails, I went for the espresso martini which was lovely and not at all what I expected. Overall the night was good, not what I expected. I did learn some things about photography but not the kind of things I was after.
Let me know in the comments if you have learnt anything new in photography and what is your best tip?
