What’s In My Hospital Bag?

The time is fast approaching, I was 34 weeks yesterday, the bump is growing bigger and bigger and even the braxton hicks has started. The idea of giving birth is a scary thing to me, it’s not something I am looking forward to but I want to have the best experience I can. Obviously I am no expert, but after speaking to a lot of other mums and research I have my hospital bag finished. I thought I would share it with you guys as I found these posts really helpful. There might be something on there that you never even thought of.

For my hospital bag I am using my River Island weekend bag. It’s big enough to fit in my stuff, Scotts bits he needs and the stuff I will need for the baby while still in the hospital. I don’t want to end up taking like 3 bags so this is a perfect size. There has been recent changes which I am thrilled about and partners are allowed to stay with you overnight now, so Scott will need a few bits to refresh the next day. It’s a really positive change and will help me if I am sore or tired and the baby is crying. Giving you the extra support you need.

Whats inside?

For me:

  • Night dress (to give birth in) very loose and comfy
  • Big short style pants x6 (apparently there is a lot of bleeding afterwards)
  • Maternity pads (for said bleeding)
  • Breast pads
  • Nipple Cream
  • Socks
  • Baggy clothes to wear home
  • Shampoo and Conditioner (Herbal Essences)
  • Travel size toothpaste and mouth wash
  • Shower gel (Bubbly from Lush)
  • A Book (My not so perfect life – Sophie Kinsella)
  • Phone charger
  • Camera
  • Camera Charger
  • Cool It Mama Cooling Spray (From Boots)
  • Pregnancy Notes
  • Dressing Gown
  • Pillow

For Scott:

  • Boxers
  • T-shirt to change into
  • Socks
  • Phone Charger
  • Travel size shower gel
  • Toothbrush

For the baby:

  • 4 Baby grows
  • 4 Bodysuits
  • Nappies
  • Baby wipes
  • Socks
  • Roo rattle toy
  • Hat
  • Cardigan
  • Blanket

I have also added in a Thank you card and some chocolates for the midwives who help me deliver and support me while I am on the ward. I will add snack and drinks nearer the time but I don’t know how much I will be wanting to eat in labour. I will probably stick to cereal bars, sports drinks or water. If all else fails, there is a M&S downstairs so I can always send Scott down for some goodies.

I may of forgotten something so if you took something different or think I need to add anything to my list, let me know in the comments below!
