I’ve been in the same job for about 3 years and I am starting to feel very trapped in the role. I’m the kind of person who has always strived for progression in any part of my life. I am looking to get a promotion in my company or going into a different department. I’ve found recently a few things that can really get you noticed.
01// Help others
People in your department whether they are new or have been there longer than you, offer to help or guide them. If you finish your tasks for the day, offer to assist them. This shows you are a team player and willing to go the extra mile for your colleagues.
02// Dress for the job you want, not the job you have
This is a tip which you always see, dressing smart not only makes you look more professional, in my case I have found it changes your mindset. In my current role we can wear what we want as we aren’t customer facing. On days I go in a baggy top and leggings I feel like I’m very relaxed. However when I go in looking smart, I feel more professional and ready to tackle to the day and do the work. You can get Ladies suits from Lucy Alice.
03// Don’t be afraid to ask for ask for more responsibility
When you speak to your manager, show initiative and ask for more responsibilities it will give you more experience when looking for a better job and examples to show again you are happy to work hard.
These are just a few tips that I have found can really make you stand out and give you that confidence to improve or change your career.
