As a typical plump girl, one of my new years resolutions is to lose weight. One of the things I really wanted to do was change my lifestyle and not just go on a fad diet. Preparation is the key and one of the steps I took was to stock up on cook books so I had new stuff to try. I love trying new things and cooking, I find cooking very therapeutic which helps with my anxiety and stress.
The first healthy book I picked up was Deliciously Ella, since then she has brought out another one Deliciously Ella Every day, which I am very keen to pick up. I loved the first one so much. They are pure natural and raw foods. You can make some of your favourite things but they don’t have all the extra crap in that you don’t even know how to pronounce. One of my favourite things to make from this book is the baked beans. It tastes so fresh and so much nicer than canned ones. I also do add in kidney beans but it’s how I like it. There are amazing recipes for every occasion. If you do pick it up, read the introduction by Ella, I was so moved by her story and it’s such an inspiration.
The next one I got was Jamie’s. Jamie is my favourite chef. I watch his tv shows all the time and was so thrilled when he brought out a healthy book, this one is Everyday Superfood. For this book, Jamie travelled the world and picked up some amazing tips, tricks and recipes to live the best way possible. It again is focused on natural ingredients. My favourite recipes in this book is the 100 calorie salad snack bowls. There are six in there and it’s just a perfect thing to have between meals that will fill you up and full of nutrients. One of them has blueberries in which I’ve never tried before but it really works.
The third one is the classic blogger recipe book from the Hemsley sisters The Art of Eating Well. I haven’t got round to getting the Spiralizer but I 100% want to get it. I can’t wait to try the courgetti spaghetti which seemed to take the internet by storm in 2015. My favourite recipe in this book is the Kelp Pot Noodle. I love pot noodles, I know they are bad for you but I love them. This is a really healthy alternative, the only downside is it’s really hard to get kelp noodles that aren’t massively expensive from getting overseas. The whole book is amazing though, again focused on natural food and ingredients. I’m really intriegued about the bone broth they make, I’ll need to look into it because the sound of it still weirds me out a bit.
Anyway, what is your favourite recipe books to stay healthy? I’d love to grow my collection and get more inspiration. Let me know in the comments below.
