Eight Things We Couldn’t Do Without*

Life is all about those little joyful moments that we share with others. It is important to remember all the good things in life, especially during those winter months! Here is a list of eight of those little pleasures that make life just that little bit better and remind you what it’s all about.

A Deep Bath

There’s nothing better at the end of a long day than a deep, relaxing bath. Showers just aren’t the same! A bath really helps to relax every muscle in your body. And when your body is relaxed, your mind is calm too. The ultimate me-time.

The Love of a Dog

There is a very good reason that dogs are called man’s best friend. The love of a loyal and trustworthy dog is one of the best things on Earth. Having a dog to come home to is nearly as good as a partner! A loyal and loving dog would follow you to the ends of the earth.

Freshly Brewed Coffee

I love a cup of coffee in the morning. It might just be the best way to start the day. Being a bit of a connoisseur, people sometimes think I’m a bit snooty when it comes to brewing coffee. It’s simple really – a Hario v60, a grinder and a dedicated coffee mug are all you need for the perfect cup.

Phone Conversations

These seem to be dying out a little these days. But there’s really nothing better than a chat on the phone with an old friend. Remember when we all used to while away the hours this way? All too often, texting replaces phone calls. But I still think a long chat on the phone can’t be beaten.

Receiving a Letter From a Friend

Again, this doesn’t happen so much anymore – and what a shame. Receiving a letter from an old friend is a sure way to bring a smile to your face – especially if it’s handwritten. There’s just something amazing about opening a letter from someone you know – rather than from a company.

Cooking a Roast

This is one of those traditions that can’t possibly die out. There is no better way to spend a Sunday than cooking a roast dinner, particularly if you have all your nearest and dearest assembled for the meal. Filling the house with those gorgeous smells gets me every time. And the look on their faces when they’re eating – priceless.

Finding Money In A Coat Pocket

Easily the best thing about this time of year. This is just one of those little joys that really make you smile. It’s almost worth considering leaving a fiver in a coat pocket for next year!

Coming of Spring

It may not be here yet, but it isn’t far off either. We are only in January, but the days are already getting longer, and Spring is in the air! Before you know it, you’ll be putting your winter coat away in favour of your summer clothes. Winter will soon seem like a distant memory. Personally, I can’t wait.

What can’t you live without?

The Love of a Dog – haha this reminds me of a joke I remembered. You put your wife and a dog in the back of your trunk for the whole day. But when you open it, guess who's excited to see you?! 😉
