Now we all need a little motivation to get things done these days. In the age of technology and everything readily available on your phone, you can pass time by without realising it. I know many times, I’ve been sitting on my phone, flipping between twitter, Facebook and Instagram. All of a sudden it’s like 3 hours later. Boxsets and Netflix are even worse, I could sit there all day. Just one more episode, who needs sleep anyway right?
Below are a few things I put in motion to make myself do more. I even did it today, got all my chores done and now time to sit, relax and write this post. It’s even better when you don’t have a million things running through you mind, thinking you need to do this and that.
01// Wake Up Earlier
Wake up 1 hour earlier and don’t hit snooze! Sometimes I will wake up one hour and make it the most productive so I’ve done things before my brain even catches up with me to say ‘Go back to bed!’. You can do a lot in an hour, which you really wouldn’t realise, say you get up at 7am instead of 8am:
7:00 – 7:10 Look on your phone, catch up on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram
7:10 – 7:20 Quick 10 minute Yoga session, pop a sports bra on, you can stay in your PJ’s
7:20 – 7:35 Shower for 10 mins, towel off.
7:35 – 7:45 Get dressed (quicker if you plan your outfit the night before)
7:45 – 8:00 Make a healthy breakfast (Mashed Avocado on Wholemeal toast) Eat it and write a list of 5 things you want/need to do today in priority order.
Look at all you can achieve in short bursts rather than snoozing, live an hour longer!
02// Plan The Night Before
Things can make you more likely to do things in the day if you already prepare. Put out your running clothes and trainers, but a bottle of water in the fridge so it’s nice and cold. You’re probably more likely to go. Make a nice healthy lunch for work, ready in the fridge. Make a to-do list for what you need to do. There’s so much potential if you just prepare. You don’t prepare to fail, prepare to succeed!
03// Cut Your To-Do List In Half
Sometimes having a massive to do list can put you off and you don’t even know where to start. Mark the list in priority order and split it over two days. Do the ones that need to be done on the day and the bits and bobs that aren’t overly urgent tomorrow. Theres no harm in spreading out things, you don’t want to burn yourself out.
04// Have A Healthy Filling Lunch
Now if you’re employed/self employed or an aspiring full time blogger, time can run away with you. You get to lunch time and either have a processed pre packaged meal or sometimes don’t bother having anything. Having a lunch that will make you feel fuller for longer will help you carry on your work without feeling exhausted or hitting that wall. You know the wall, you get to about 2.30pm and you just don’t have an energy or interest in doing work or things you need to get done. Get lots of protein and nutrients in your lunch. Chicken salad with new potato’s, Vegetable soup and a wholemeal roll or even a tasty nourishment bowl (see below/image source)
05// Down Time
Make sure you give yourself some time to relax, don’t be go, go, go all the time. You’ll burn yourself out and just basically not do anything for like 3 days or maybe 3 weeks. Who knows? Once or twice a week, have the evening for yourself, read a book, watch a film or have a pamper night and a relaxing bath. No matter how much we need to do, you need to make sure you aren’t affecting your health. Look after yourself.
