I’ve been off work the last few days and was really pumped and ready to get loads of posts done and get things scheduled, do you think I did that? No I did not. I hoped I would and normally do, but I spent my days lazing around watching The Simpsons and Family guy and snacking.
I felt re de-motivated and just didn’t know why, for the last month or so I have been doing a make over on my blog and getting loads of posts ready. So, I would go to my normal job, go see my boyfriend then spend all evening doing blog work. I love writing for my blog and enjoy it thoroughly but I didn’t just let myself re-charge and thats where I was going wrong. So I’ve let myself relax and just be, now I’m ready to get back into writing my posts and want to share with you some other ways I stay motivated to write.
LET YOURSELF RELAX
As I mentioned above, it’s good to give yourself some downtime. whether thats staying in bed having a netflix marathon or going for a run. Whatever helps you relax and re-charge. Not all of us are lucky enough to be full time bloggers and if you’re like me you blog and have a full time job alongside. It’s important not to let yourself burn out. You need to give yourself regular breaks. I hadn’t done this the last month and a half and I really noticed it. I will be making sure to have a pamper evening or just sit and binge watch tv series to re-charge.
WRITE FOR YOURSELF
When people first start blogging it can be a bit demotivating with working really hard on content and not getting a lot of views or comments. You need to make sure you are enjoying what you are writing. It can be noticed when you are writing to just push out posts. You need to be passionate or enjoy your work. Sometimes I will think of a post that could be really popular but I don’t enjoy writing it, so it just bores me. I eventually give up and move on to something I am really interested in writing about. Always put yourself first.
REVISIT WHY YOU STARTED
Sit and think back to when you first started your blog, what made you do it? What motivated you then and gave you that push? Sometimes a reminder is all we need. What kind of things were you blogging about then? Have you changed your style now, maybe you need to try a different topic.
Sometimes I find scrolling through your favourite blogs can give you ideas on blog posts. I’m not saying copy their ideas, but it might trigger a similar idea. I also wrote a blogger tips post on 50 blog post ideas. You might find something on there. I’d also scroll through the #bbloggers, #lbloggers or #fbloggers tag on instagram, visuals can really help and instagram is perfect place to find some inspiration.
TAKE A BREAK
Maybe you just need to take a step back and have a holiday from blogging. There is no harm in it, I’ve done it plenty of times. Maybe just write a blog post explaining you won’t be posting for a week or two while you recharge. It can give you time to mull things over and come back with a new outlook on the blog and flush you with ideas.
I hope this helped in any way, I know how hard it can be to stay motivated. Any other tips leave in the comments below, would love to hear your thoughts.
